Avoid Audulterated and Contaminated Foods

STOP buying Adulterated, Contaminated Foods from the markets.
Try to buy only 100% organic foods.

Adulterated food is the food that is generally, impure, unsafe, or unwholesome. Food adulteration is the act of intentionally debasing the quality of food offered for sale either by the admixture or substitution of inferior substances or by the removal of some valuable ingredient. Products that are adulterated under these laws definitions cannot enter into commerce for human food use. Under U.S. law, using an ingredient not approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is one form of food adulteration.

Types of adulterants: Sand, marble chips, stones, mud, other filth, talc, chalk powder, water, mineral oil, and harmful color. Pesticide residues, droppings of rodents, larvae in foods. Arsenic from pesticides, lead from water, effluent from chemical industries, tin from cans.

CAUSES OF FOOD ADULTERATION:
The profit motive of traders: Done as a part of the business strategy.
Food insecurity: To increase the quantity of food production and sales.
Increased Urbanization: To make maximum profit from food items by fewer investments.

PENALTY is minimum imprisonment of 6 months that may extend up to 3 years and a minimum fine of Rs. 1000/-  To Rs. 2,00,000/-  Import, manufacture, storage, sale or distribution of any food article which is adulterated or any adulterant which is injurious to health is being used is punishable under Law.

Pre-caution:
When you buy vegetables or fruits, make a habit to wash them by soaking in lemon water or tamarind water or in baking soda water for 30 minutes before you cook or eat. If possible peel the upper layer of the vegetables and fruits to remove any chemicals or wax sprayed on the food.

Health Tips from Dr. Khadar Vali

No Rice, Wheat, Meat, Eggs, Milk, and Sugar? Then what to eat?? I hear this often from people.
Take Charge of your Health...Try this.
"The Alternative (Real) Food"

1. Avoid Polished Rice and Wheat including Organic.
Alternative: Go for Siridhanya (Millets) Foxtail, Little, Kodo, Barnyard and Brown Top Millets for optimal health.
Note: Soak Millets for 4 hrs before cooking and use one type of Millet continuous 2 days for effective results. Healthy people can add Finger Millet, Sorghum and Pearl Millets to the above list.
Caution: Women in post-pregnancy stage(Lactating Mothers) should not consume Foxtail Millet for a period of one year after delivery as per Dr. Khadar. Continue having rest of the Millets and post lactating period include Foxtail Millet as well.

2. Avoid RO Water(Acidic and TDS less than 20).
Alternative: Go for Tap Water Stored in Copper Vessel.
Note: Use a basic candle water filter to remove physical impurities and shift the filtered water into a copper vessel to remove chemical and biological impurities (or clay pot where the copper sheet is immersed). Store it for more than 8 hours and use it by the next day.

3. Avoid Refined Oils ( Adulterated Sunflower, Palm oil, and Canola).
Alternative: Go for Organic Cold Pressed Oils (Coconut, Sesame/Gingelly, Groundnut, Mustard and Safflower). Ensure oils are in Glass or Steel containers only and No to plastic containers. Prefer oils extracted from traditional methods(Gana or Ghani or Wooden Pressed) rather machine extracted.

4. Avoid White Sugar( Refined and Chemically Processed).
Alternative: Go for Palm Jaggery.

5. Avoid Chemically Cultivated (Fertilizers, Insecticide, and Pesticides) vegetables and fruits including seedless fruits and GMO.
Alternative: Go for Organically cultivated (Chemical Free) fruits and vegetables.
Note: If you are unable to afford or find organic then take a bowl full of tamarind water and keep the fruits and vegetables in it for 30 minutes and wash it with fresh water for use. Avoid seedless fruits although grown organically.

6. Avoid Plastic especially in storing liquids (Never Allow your kids to drink water/ milk in plastic containers, don't use plastic tiffin boxes).
Alternative: Go for Copper, Steel or Clay containers.

7. Avoid Jersey Cow Milk(A1).
Alternative: Go for Desi Cow Milk(A2)
Note: It is advised to have buttermilk, curd, butter or ghee from desi cow milk and not direct consumption of Milk.

8. Avoid coffee (3 poisons in one glass - Coffee + Milk +Sugar).
Alternative: Go for Coconut Milk or Kashaya/ Decoction. Tulasi (Holy Basil), Lemon Grass, Rosemary, Curry Leaves, Betel Leaves, Pongamia, Peepal, Bilva, Ginger, Turmeric, etc.. with Organic Jaggery or Palm Jaggery added as a sweetener.

9. Avoid Microwave ovens, Teflon(Toxic) coated non-stick cookware including Aluminium Pressure Cookers.
Alternative: Go for Iron Casting, Steel and Clay cookwares.

10. Avoid Processed Salt.
Alternative : Use Sea Salt, Rock Salt/ Himalayan Pink Salt/ Saindhava lavana.

11. Avoid Eggs and Meat.
Alternative: Go for Organically cultivated Mushrooms. If it's not Organic then Please follow the process explained in cleaning vegetables with tamarind water above.
