Diabetic Diet, Stronger Bones


Diabetics or (Blood sugar):
It caused mainly due to:
* Improper function of insulin production
* Insufficiency of produced Insulin


Essentially, people with diabetes have high blood sugar because they either don't make enough insulin (type 1) or because the inside of the cells that make up our muscle, fat, liver and organs act as if they have shut the door on insulin and prevent glucose from being delivered inside (type 2).  Type 2 diabetes is the most common form of diabetes. If you have type 2 diabetes your body does not use insulin properly. This is called insulin resistance. At first, your pancreas makes extra insulin to make up for it. But, over time it isn't able to keep up and can't make enough insulin to keep your blood glucose at normal levels.

Obesity (excess weight) is an important factor for causing Diabetes, and the major risk factor in decreasing insulin's effectiveness, and the rise of obesity is the major reason we've recently seen diabetes levels skyrocket. There are many problems associated with diabetes, including frequent urination, de-hydration, fatigue, impotence, nerve dysfunction, accelerated arterial aging and even the development of vision problems that can cause blindness.

Insulin is the key to open cells
to inject glucose for energy
Insulin is used to Control the blood sugar by converting excess energy (sugar) to cholesterol and to convert stored cholesterol to energy (sugar). When you eat, your body turns food into sugars, or glucose. At that point, your pancreas is supposed to release insulin. Insulin serves as a “key” to open your cells, to allow the glucose to enter -- and allow you to use the glucose for energy.  But with diabetes, this system does not work. When there isn't enough insulin or the insulin is not used as it should be, glucose (sugar) can't get into the body's cells. When glucose builds up in the blood instead of going into cells, the body's cells are not able to function properly.

It has been found that in those people who have adequate insulin, yet have diabetes, the problem is that their insulin is unable to be utilized in the cell, where it is needed, because the insulin receptors in the cell are blocked by cholesterol. For this they have to totally devoid of bad cholesterol (animal fats).

In diabetes type 1 the body is not producing insulin, while in diabetes type 2 the cells are not responding properly to the insulin, and/or there is not enough insulin being produced. People with type 1 diabetes need to take insulin regularly in order to stay alive. In type 1 diabetes, the person's own body has destroyed the insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas.  When your own body destroys good stuff in your own body it has what is called an autoimmune disease.  Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease.

Diabetic Diet:
* Veganism: Vegans diet live on products of the plant kingdom. Vegans exclude flesh, fish, birds, eggs, dairy products (animal milk, butter, cheese, yogurt, etc.), honey, animal gelatin and all other foods of animal origin. Being dairy-free and animal-free products could remove the diabetes completely.
*Eat non-starchy & high fiber food in small portions when required.

* To increase efficiency in production of insulin:
       Give more rest to the body, So that body can give energy to organs of body and to maintain them healthy. Resting of body enhances the power of organs to work by performing repairing and cleaning of body.

**Diabetics should drink more water daily, and 1 hour of exercise is MUST to sweat daily. The most important of all Diabetics should completely AVOID White Rice, Salty/Sodium food, Sugary foods, Animal foods, Alcohol, Gluten Flours and Oily foods. Be Vegan .. Sprouts is the best food for the diabetics!! ...Following all these healthy tips, will surely bring major difference in health recovering.

* Excretion of blood sugar:
        If sufficient water is in blood then body cleanses the excess blood sugar (energy) and pushes it out through urine. But if we drink water followed by eating food then it wont absorb in blood efficiently and mix ups with food and slows down the process of digestion. TIP: Sit in Vajrasana pose after the meal which helps in digestion. Drink water at-least half-an-hour before eating, The food you intake should contain more natural digestive juices and water level should be maintained naturally. Ex: Raw foods like fruits, vegetables etc. Doctors suggest to chew and eat the raw fruits, instead of drinking the juice, "DO NOT DRINK FRUIT JUICES" as the fruit juice fructose (glucose)  goes quickly into the blood stream, not at all good for diabetic body.

Foods to avoid for Diabetics:
*Avoid completely the dangerous intakes of (Oil, White Rice, Dairy, Salt, Sugar, Gluten Flours, Meats and Alcohol). All these food intakes are not good for diabetics, it decreases the insulin in the body, and makes more prone to diabetic.
*Avoid completely Processed & Oily foods (these requires more insulin because oil is direct cholesterol), white rice and other polished foods, junk foods, deep fry, salty foods, sugary beverages, sweets etc., all these gives higher instant energy, needs to be avoided completely... very bad to the diabetic.
*Avoid potatoes completely, not good for diabetics.
*Avoid completely refined type Sugars, and Salts, as these are chemically processed, its a slow poison. The over-consumption of white sugar & salt leads to: Obesity, Cancer, Aging, Cardiovascular Heart disease, High blood pressure, Adult-onset diabetes, Eczema, Kidney stones, Depression, Candida (fungus yeast over-growth), Anxiety, Dental cavities, Atherosclerosis, Poor brain function and countless other conditions.
*Avoid Chapatis made of gluten wheat, or white refined flours, Maida Paratha's and Naans. As these gluten chapatis intake destroys the brain and pancreas, and makes the patient permanently diabetic.
*Avoid Alcohol completely. Its intake damages liver, nerve, and brain. It leads to cancer of the mouth, throat and food pipe.
*Avoid dairy and animal products completely: poultry, red meat, yogurt, cheese etc.. as these contains lot of cholesterol.
*Avoid ripen fruits like bananas, mangoes, raisins, plums, dates, grapes as they contain high sugar (fructose/ glucose). Try to eat non ripen fruits .. or ripen ones in limit.
*One of the reasons for diabetic is most Indian people are on a single-cereal diet. People are eating either only rice or only gluten wheat. This can definitely cause health problems. It is important to bring in a multigrain diet in one's life.

*Stress, Anxiety, Tensions causes prone to diabetic, reduces insulin in the body. To overcome tension and stress, do meditation to calm down, prayers to god, chanting mantras helps health in many ways.

Healthy habits, Foods to intake: (100% Organic) .. choose the diet which suits you as every body is different.
* Eat less energy giving food and more fiber foods to control blood sugar. *As always eat your meals in smaller portions. DONOT EAT BIG MEALS, as you eat large meals, it gets more glucose into blood stream where the insulin may not be sufficient in the body.
* Avoid completely eating for time-pass or enjoyment. Eat only when you are hungry!

* Wheatgrass is one of the most healthy substances, energy drink on earth. Wheatgrass has highest beta carotene, chlorophyll and many other nutrients like protein, vitamin E, potassium, calcium, magnesium. Drinking daily (30 ml) of wheatgrass juice helps you in building blood, protects you from illness, helps in removal of acne (pimples), removal of scars, helps in healing any skin problems such as eczema or psoriasis. Wheatgrass keeps the hair from graying, helps sore throat, eliminates toothaches, improves digestion, clears the bad breath. Wheatgrass improves blood sugar problems, helps purify the liver, helps the tissues in refining, also cleans the drugs deposits from the body.

*One teaspoon of Methi (Fenugreek) seeds soaked overnight in 100 ml of water is very effective in controlling diabetes. Take methi leaves in the dishes and curries.

*Taken Bitter Gourd (Karela) + Gooseberry(Amla) juice for two months in the empty stomach daily, enables the burnt out pancreas to regenerate and secrete insulin again. The juice is very effective in controlling diabetes.

*Cinnamon tea: Cinnamon tea is popular in the Middle East. The Chinese too use cinnamon for various diseases or conditions. Simmer a stick of cinnamon in water for about 10 minutes. Drink this once or twice a day. Cinnamon is believed to lower blood sugar and cholesterol.

*Drink Tomato juice with pinch of black pepper every morning on an empty stomach.

*Oats (gluten free), Quinoa or Brown rice, Chickpea (channa atta), millets (jowar, jonna) and other high fiber foods should be included in the meals. If one feels like consuming with Quinoa, it should always be accompanied with organic vegetables, and sprouts. (Avoid gluten foods pasta, pizza, noodles, wheat, and processed baked foods like bread, cakes, sugary cookies etc..).

*Coconut Milk improves immune function, reduces heart disease risk and improves the skin and hair health.

*Chapati (Intake Gluten free Breads) made of Raagulu/ Ragi/ Jowar/ Rye/ Amaranth/ Oats .. Coracana flours are rich in iron, calcium and fiber very good for diabetic persons.

*Kidney disorders are also common among diabetics. The high potassium content in Watermelon helps in washing off toxic compounds in the kidneys. It is also helpful in reducing blood uric acid levels which can otherwise cause kidney damage. The high water content in watermelon also induces frequent urination which helps the kidneys flush out toxins from the body.

*Eat non-starchy food and High fiber vegetables such as peas, beans, carrots, tomatoes, lettuce, oakra, cucumber, cabbage, broccoli and spinach /leafy vegetables should be included in one's diet. Also, pulses with husk and sprouts are a healthy option and should form a part of the diet.

*Pulses are important in the diet as their effect on blood glucose is less than that of most other carbohydrate containing foods. Organic Vegetables are rich in fiber, helps lowering down the blood sugar levels and thus are healthy.

 * Quinoa (Is substitute meal for white Rice). Quinoa is high in fiber, protein, and omega-3 good for heart and controls diabetes.

*Gluten-free/Unbleached Wheat Bread is good for health, made with ground flours from a variety of materials such as almonds, rice (rice bread), sorghum (sorghum bread), corn (cornbread), or legumes such as beans (bean bread), but since these flours lack gluten it can be difficult for them to retain their shape as they rise and they may be less "fluffy". Additives such as xanthan gum, guar gum, corn starch, or eggs are used to compensate for the lack of gluten.

*Good fats such as Omega 3 and MUFA should be consumed as they are good for the body. Natural sources for these are flax seeds, Salomon fish oil and nuts. These are also low in cholesterol and are trans fat free. (MUFA means Mono Unsaturated Fatty-Acids).

* Zinc: When the foods in our diet do not provide us with enough zinc, insulin response decreases, and our blood sugar becomes more difficult to stabilize. Metabolic rate - the rate at which we create and use up energy - also depends on zinc for its regulation. Zinc can be found in garbanzo beans (chick pea), cashews, spinach, asparagus, broccoli, sesame seeds, water melon seeds, pumpkin seeds, oats, green peas rajma, quinoa, lentils, peanuts, yogurt etc. Zinc helps your immune system function better, also brings significant change in the skin health.

*Dudhi/Lauki/Squash/Sorakaya/Bottle Gourd: Very good in digestion problems, and preventing acidity. Lauki juice helps in urinary disorders, diabetes and excessive sodium loss from the body. Overall, it is a healthy daily tonic. Drink this organic Lauki juice early in the morning on empty stomach. Keeps you thin, Does not increase fat in your body. Note: *DO NOT use bitter bottle gourd, as it is very harmful to the body, just throw it away.

*Turmeric juice helps regulate blood sugar levels in people with diabetes. Turmeric helps maintain the proper functioning of the pancreas. This in turn helps regulate and balance insulin levels and prevent insulin resistance. It also increases the effectiveness of medications used to treat diabetes. To control your blood sugar, add 1 teaspoon of turmeric juice and ¼ teaspoon of black pepper powder to a cup of water and drink it once daily.

*Ayurveda suggests the popular ARJUN Chal powder helps in removing the Bad Cholesterol, any Heart Blockages from the Body. Drink the mixture (Arjun Chal powder + Almond Milk or Water +Honey) after the meal an hour later. But do not get addicted to it, take not more than 2 months.

*TRIPHALA Churna (Powder) is the BEST:
Take in the morning Jaggery + Triphala for all Kapha (cold, nostrils, throat, sinus, bronchi, memory), Pitta (heart, skin, stomach, digestion, pancreas) and Vata (nerves, arthritis, blood flow, constipation, gas) problems.   • Bone fractures and osteoporosis can be healed by manganese in Pineapple & Pumpkin seeds. 
  • Eat Kale, Spinach, Broccoli, Celery, Tomatoes & Bok Choy has highest vitamin K, A, C and manganese helps in healing and strengthening the bones.
  • Eat protein food: Dairy or Soya Milk, Home made Yogurt, Brown eggs (white), and vitamin C, D good for stronger bones. ( *Diabetic patients should avoid dairy and meet products).
  • Pumpkin seeds are a very good source of bone-building phosphorus, magnesium and manganese. They are also a good source of other minerals including immune-supportive zinc and copper and energy-producing iron . In addition, pumpkin seeds are a good source of muscle-building protein.
  • Take Methi leaves in curries, very helpful in reducing the joint pains.
  • For massage on affected areas use either Eucalyptus or Sesame Oil is the BEST for bone joint pains, and skin elasticity.
  • In case of bone fracture casting ask for water proof casting (optional). 
  • Mix 10 grams of dry ginger powder with 15 ml of castor oil and apply on the joint for relief from joint pains.
  • Turmeric is very effective for arthritis, especially for Rheumatoid Arthritis. The curcumin in the turmeric helps to reduce the inflammation. Drink a glass of warm water mixed with one table spoon of turmeric powder before going to bed.
  • A teaspoon of black sesame seeds soaked in a quarter cup of water at night and taken early next morning. It prevents frequent joint pain.
  • Drinking water kept in a copper container overnight accumulates traces of copper which strengthens the muscular system.
  • The omega-3 fatty acids in fish oil have an anti-inflammatory effect in the body and can help reduce pain. Consume one or two teaspoons of fish oil daily. Include foods like cold-water fish, flax seeds in your daily diet.
  • Take plenty of Vitamin C  the antioxidant in it prevents the breakdown of bones by destroying the free radicals. Include lemons, oranges and other citrus fruits in your diet.
  • Vitamin D: The hormonal functions of vitamin D include regulation of bone and muscle health (including both skeletal and heart muscle), regulation of immune response, regulation of insulin and blood sugar, and regulation of calcium and phosphorus metabolism. Sources of Vitamin D: Hemp milk has highest vitamin D, Cow's milk (grass-fed), Sunlight is very useful to get vitamin D naturally before 11am and after 4pm, (but over being under sun between 11am to 4pm will effect the skin), Soya and Almond Milk, Brown Eggs, Brown Mushrooms, Salmon.
  • Curry Leaves contains highest calcium, and exceptionally rich in iron which is necessary for healthy red blood cells. Iron is part of the hemoglobin molecule which carries oxygen in the blood to the muscles. Prevents iron deficiency anemia and fatigue.
  • Harsingar (Parijata): As per ayurveda, make the paste from 7 of Harsingar leaves, and then boil in a steel container with a glass of water for 10 to 15 minutes, and once it cools down, drink in the morning on empty stomach. You will notice within 2 months the knee joint pains will be permanently solved.
  • Moringa Leaves: Considered to be a superfood, 25% protein and full of many vitamins and minerals, source of chromium. Used widely in feeding programs throughout the world to combat hunger and malnutrition. Chromium is part of the insulin molecule which regulates blood sugar levels. Moringa is used for “tired blood” (anemia); for stronger bones, arthritis and other joint pain (rheumatism); asthma; cancer; constipation; diabetes; diarrhea; epilepsy; stomach pain; stomach and intestinal ulcers; intestinal spasms; headache; heart problems; high blood pressure; kidney stones; fluid retention; thyroid disorders; and bacterial, fungal, viral, and parasitic infections.
